Kunthear Pattern Making at Dorsu.

From the Floor Series is a further insight into what we do at Dorsu, how and why. Have you ever wondered where your clothes were made? What the production process is? Who makes them? Well we would like to show you, every step of the way, from idea generation to final product.

One of the most unique things about Dorsu (and something that we are incredibly proud of) is that we design AND produce AND sell our clothing all under one roof. We are able to design, sample, test, adjust, and adjust some more- making every item absolutely perfect before bringing it out into the world.

The Design Process

Our approach to design is a collaborative one- our core team members work together to gather customer feedback and look to best sellers to make sure we are designing directly to our customer needs. Our store is located directly in-front of our production (you can actually see your clothes being sewn whilst you are buying them!) so we spend a lot of time with our customers chatting about their thoughts on our latest items. We listen to people’s concerns on fit, shape, variety and more, bringing this all to the table when we are building a new collection.

We don’t design to trends- rather we aim to provide our customers with timeless, core pieces that easily slide into your wardrobe, becoming a base layer or your new favourite key piece. Our products are designed to be worn every day and loved for years. Every item we produce aims to meet our 3 core design values- easy wearing, good quality and versatile.

Our collections are crafted with carefully selected items that are designed to worn together or worn with pieces from your existing wardrobe. We call these capsule wardrobes. Read on for more details on what this means to us.

Design Inspiration

We are inspired by you- our Dorsu people. We spend time talking to those who purchase our clothing, find out what they do, what they need and how clothing fits into their lives. And then we make it!

We are inspired by travel and experiencing new places- we love travelling ourselves and get to meet a lot of travelers coming through Kampot. We love that our clothing becomes part of a travel capsule wardrobe, that can be taken back into home life and worn all throughout the year.

We are inspired by breaking the conventional approach to clothing and consumption- we make our own rules. We don't believe in trends, mass consumption or over-production. We believe in quality, in investing in items that will serve you well and last.

In-house Pattern Making

Our patterns are made in-house by our Production Manager / Pattern Maker / Co-owner extraordinaire, Kunthear. Now with years of experience and training behind her, she uses the traditional method of paper pattern cutting to transform designs into complete, graded patterns.

Dorsu Collections

Capsule Wardrobes, packed full of versatile cotton basics are our thing. Each year, we release collections with carefully selected new, fun and exciting designs in limited edition colours that we source from our remnant fabric suppliers. These items have a little extra colour and detail to diversify your wardrobe.

Sitting alongside this, we have our Core Collection, a collection of most loved, best selling items in everyday base colours. These items are available all year, at a consistent price so you can always rely on us for your favourite basic dresses and tees.
